Naoto Fukasawa’s Siena bed offers an exquisitely minimalist aesthetic that conveys levity and softness and incorporates some clever ergonomic features. Its slim profile platform was designed to extend beyond the placement of the mattress to create a stunning perimeter reveal – its foam padding gently tapers at the edges to engender an overall softness to the horizontal expanse. The platform is supported by tubular steel runners that traverse the width of the Siena bed. Fukasawa’s placement of these runners away from the perimeter reinforces the floating sensation of the upholstered platform. The addition of an upholstered, canted headboard with its gentle backward curve at the top provides the perfect support for sitting up in bed – the curve even provides a place to rest your arm while you do. The negative space creates by the cant where it meets the platform provides a discreet easily accessed surface for storing reading materials.
Siena Bed features a steel internal frame covered with Bayfit (Bayer) flexible cold-shaped polyurethane foam with polyester padding. The platform also contains support for metal mesh and multi-layer beech wood slats. The underside base runners are tubular steel available in bronzed nickel or chromed finish. There is an optional model that features rear wheels to make moving the bed easier.
Noted here is the Siena bed in two standard US sizes that will accommodate either an American queen or king mattress – both versions are available as part of our Quick Ship Program.
