Jewel Box is a breathtaking, multi-tiered repository for jewelry created by renowned jewelry designer, Saskia Diez, for e15. The overall form of Jewel box is that of a low-profile cylinder – each of its three individually carved stacked trays features a different organic arrangement of gently curved depressions. These beautiful concave valleys are reminiscent of legendary American designer Russel Wright’s coveted Oceania designs in carved wood for Klise in the 1930s.
Jewel box is composed of hand-finished solid European walnut. The stacked trays are topped with a beautiful flat walnut disc tray that also functions as a lid. An absolutely stunning piece that functions perfectly as a jewelry case or a container for precious objects – indeed, each of its tray components is sufficiently enigmatic that any could be presented as a decorative sculptural object on any surface.
Saskia Diez is a Munich-based designer who had worked in several design studios including Rosenthal and Konstantin Grcic before setting up her own studio. Her captivating designs feature both clarity and intelligent simplicity – playing with tradition and modernity, underscored by zeitgeist without being trendy.
