Designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby in 2011, this is their clever Tab floor lamp. The Tab floor lamp features a disc base, columnar support, and pivoting hood in die-cast aluminum. The Tab floor lamp’s simple triangular folded hood with an upright “tab” allows the user to pivot the diffuser in several ways to direct light. The columnar cylindrical stem on the Tab floor lamp flares slightly as it meets the base disc in a fashion reminiscent of Jasper Morrison’s iconic Glo-Ball table and floor lamps.
Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby each graduated from London’s Royal College of Arts with a Masters degree in architecture and actually started their collaboration while they were students. The duo has worked across a wide range of disciplines to create everything from furniture, lighting, household products, restaurants, shops, drinks bottles and electronic products for major design manufacturers based on several continents. Their work is now found in the permanent collections of several museums worldwide including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; and the Design Museum, London.
The Tab floor lamp is available in a choice of black, white, dark green and matte blue finish; typically ships within two weeks.
