Palette reflects how different colors coming together tell stories and create associations. Loose thoughts are linked together by yarn. Harmonious gradients create depth, light and justice to the inner vision. When the motif is complete, Palette becomes a patchwork of nuances, fields and shades, producing a superior quality rug with colored building blocks joined together and kept apart by spaces.

Maja Johansson Starander studied at Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art in London. When finishing her Master’s, Maja got in contact with Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg whom she felt a strong connection with as a designer. After meeting with Gunilla in Stockholm, she decided to leave London for the little town of Kinna, Sweden. She has worked as an in-house designer at Kasthall since early 2013 with an aim to move Kasthall and the beautiful Swedish heritage forward.

Since 1889, the Kasthall Design Studio in Kinna, West Sweden, has created rugs for all kinds of clients and spaces, from beautiful residences to cool offices, boutique hotels and the Swedish Royal Castle.
Kasthall Design Studio is about transforming a vision into a realistic design solution for the floor. To create a Kasthall rug, there are several ingredients: high expertise and craftsmanship, the finest natural materials in the world, and excellent design understanding.
