or Call to Order

Karusell, designed by Ingrid Dessau for Kasthall, stands as a one-of-a-kind piece with a combination of colors in the weaving direction, adding a unique character to any interior. In honor of Ingrid’s 100th birthday, designer Ellinor Eliasson at Kasthall Design Studio has brought this classic design to life. Eliasson’s contemporary interpretation pays homage to Dessau’s timeless design while seamlessly integrating modern technology, resulting in a beautifully harmonized rug that transcends eras and enhances the aesthetic of any space.

Ingrid Dessau

Sweden (1923 - 2000)

Ingrid Dessau was a Swedish textile designer and pioneer in Sweden’s modern textile and design history. Ingrid was as much an innovator as a creator, known for her unique perspective and exceptional talent. Dessau studied at the technical school in Stockholm and, in 1953, had her debut exhibition. With roots in the southern Swedish folk crafts tradition, she studied textiles and worked as a designer, developing patterns for rugs, fabrics, and embroideries. Ingrid worked at Kasthall for almost 25 years, between 1954–1978. It is impossible to think of Kasthall’s rug factory in Kinna during this period without considering Ingrid Dessau.
