or Call to Order

Empty space prevails as Stool_One’s defining aesthetic feature. The stool is a projection of Konstantin Grcic’s Chair_One, sharing a paired-down version of its signature sculptural shell of die-cast aluminum. Stool_One has three legs in either anodized aluminum, painted in polyester powder, or treated and painted for outdoor use. Also available are cushions in fabric (Kvadrat Steelcut Trio” or Steelcut 2”) or in leather for indoor use.

“Designing a lamp is no longer limited to working around a given bulb. Today, it means designing the actual bulb or light source. This challenged me to think of Parentesi, a lamp that celebrated the traditional bulb in the most effective and beautiful way. Would it be possible to rethink the Parentesi lamp once more and pass the Manzù-Castiglioni torch on to the future? – Konstantin Grcic

Born in 1965 in Munich, Konstantin Grcic developed his particular aesthetic and became a well-known industrial designer. In 1991, he founded Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design in his hometown. His design work was often informed by his foundation in traditional cabinetmaking and included furniture, lighting, and accessories, often with the incorporation of unusual or innovative materials. Grcic uses injection molded plastic and aluminum die casting for the overall design of furniture pieces rather than regulating these materials to simple structural components. He has collections featured both at MoMA in New York City and the Deutsches Museum in Munich. He has collaborated with Authentics, Flos, Krups, Magis, Moroso, Muji, Plank, and Vitra. Notable pieces by Grcic include Chair_One and the Mayday lamp.
