Jörg Boner

Switzerland

Born in Uster, Switzer­land, Jörg Boner initially trained as a cabinet maker before study­ing design at Schule für Gestal­tung in Basel. In 2001, Jörg Boner opened his own studio in Zurich and began design­ing lamps, furni­ture, and items of every­day use. His empha­sizes the inno­va­tion in produc­tion and func­tion­al­ity as much as the beauty and elegance of objects.

Since 2003, he has been teach­ing at the pres­ti­gious ECAL in Lausanne. He has designed for Clas­si­Con, COR, Nils Holger Moor­mann, Normann Copen­hagen, Veuve Clic­quot and Wogg, to name a few. Many of his pieces form part of the Swiss Confed­er­a­tion collec­tion at the Design Museum in Zurich. In 2011, Jörg Boner received the Swiss Confed­er­a­tion Grand Prix Design” career award. In the same year, he won Wall­pa­per magazine’s Best domes­tic design 2011”. His devel­op­ments continue to ques­tion the conventional.
