Paolo Rizzatto grad­u­ated from Politec­nico di Milano Univer­sity in 1965 with a degree in architecture.Not long after, he estab­lished Luce­plan in 1978 with Riccardo Sarfatti. In addi­tion to his archi­tec­ture and design work, he has taught at various insti­tu­tions world­wide, includ­ing Colum­bia Univer­sity in New York, Politec­nico di Milano Univer­sity in Milan, Cran­brook Art Center in Detroit, Wash­ing­ton Univer­sity in Saint Louis, Archi­tec­ture Insti­tute in Moscow, and Archi­tects Asso­ci­a­tion in Saint Petersburg.

He contin­ues his work in Milan as a light­ing designer and has become an icon in the fields of archi­tec­ture, design and inte­rior design. Paolo Rizzatto’s light­ing pieces have been awarded numer­ous prizes, includ­ing three Compasso d′Oro,” the Design Plus Ambi­ente, the Red Dot Award Design Inno­va­tions, and a Good Design Award by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum.
