Ron Arad

Ron Arad is known for pushing the bound­aries, exper­i­ment­ing with the possi­bil­i­ties of mate­ri­als such as steel, aluminum, or polyamide. His radical re-concep­tion of the form and struc­ture of furni­ture has put him at the fore­front of contem­po­rary design and architecture. 

He was born in Tel Aviv in 1951 and educated at the Jerusalem Academy of Art and later at the Archi­tec­tural Asso­ci­a­tion in London. Since he has founded multi­ple design and produc­tion studios, includ­ing studio One Off, and Ron Arad Archi­tects, in asso­ci­a­tion with Ron Arad Asso­ciates and Ron Arad Studio, more­over, he’s had a substan­tial teach­ing career. He was the Profes­sor of Product Design at the Royal College of Art in London until 2009. In 2011 he was awarded London Design Week Medal for design excel­lence and became a Royal Acad­e­mi­cian of the Royal Academy of Arts in 2013

His ongoing career in design consists of his limited edition studio work and design­ing for many leading inter­na­tional compa­nies: Magis, Vitra, Moroso, Fiam, Driade, Alessi, Cappellini, Cassina, WMF, and Kartell, as well as many others.
