Acrilica Table Lamp

c. 1962/2019

by Joe Colombo
for Oluce

In collaboration with his brother Gianni, Joe Colombo created the Acrilica table lamp in 1962 for Oluce. Methacrylate, used for about a decade in the field of lighting, often cut or thermoformed, found very particular use in the design of Acrilica. The lamp’s thickness and curve meant that the light from a fluorescent lamp within the painted steel base moved through the transparent body, eventually lighting the head thanks to its conduction properties.
