Cini Boeri

Italy (1924)

A doyenne of Italian design, Cini Boeri is known for an array of lively products and projects. She graduated from Politecnico di Milano in 1951 and spent over a decade working with Marco Zanuso before forming her own architecture and industrial design studio in 1963. The curved-glass Ghost chair, designed in 1987 in collaboration with Tomu Katayanagi for FIAM Italia, is a global design icon. Another standout is the modular Strips collection that Boeri designed for Arflex in 1972. The sofa series, featuring a removable quilted cover, was awarded the illustrious Compasso D’Oro prize in 1979. Over her career, Boeri has produced pieces for a number of other leading brands including Artemide, Knoll, and Magis.
