or Call to Order

The Aliante bookshelf by Giulio Cappellini and Rodolfo Dordoni comes in an array of wall-hanging configurations and consists of a metal structure paired with wooden shelves.

The metal supports are offered in polished chrome or matte varnished finish in white, anthracite, or mud; the shelves are available with a matte or glossy finish in all the colors of the collection or natural, black, or wengé-stained oak.

The shelves are attached to the metal supports with socket-head screws, whereas the complete bookshelf attaches to the wall with a single expansion hook.

Rodolfo Dordoni

Italy

As a designer, Rodolfo Dordoni has created a career of collaboration, through designing furniture and objects for the home with a wide array of companies. Born in Milan in 1954, Dordoni graduated with a degree in architecture from Milan Polytechnic. He soon began designing for Artemide, working on their glass collection; eventually becoming their art director. Dordoni then transitioned to working for Cappellini from 1979 - 1989. He has since created lines for or work directly with Cassina, Minotti, Flos, Dornbracht, Fontana Arte, Moroso, Roda, and Venini. In 2005 he created his own architecture firm, Dordoni Archietti, which focuses on architectural planning, interior design, and exhibit design. His work is often considered to be simple and intuitive; much of his design process goes beyond the object itself and focuses on the marketing campaign that will feature the piece or line.

Giulio Cappellini

Italy

Giulio Cappellini, trained architect, joined his family business of about fifteen employees in 1979 to push his creativity and adventurous attitude. Cappellini’s iconic works include the iconic Gong tables and the 2020 edition of the Petit Quack system. Through these works, and his company as a whole, sustainability is at the forefront. Longevity in design, meaning products that detach from “throwaway” culture, is extremely important to the designer and the brand. Marcel Wanders, a designer scouted by Cappellini as a young professional, has obtained a Greenguard Gold Certification for his products, a standard that guarantees maximum control of emissions for products designed with attention to health and wellness.

Giulio Cappellini continues to use his curiosity to experiment and take risks. Through this, he has become known around the world for his ambition and dedication to contemporary design.
