This strik­ing lamp draws its inspi­ra­tion from the art of Cale­do­nia, a capti­vat­ing tech­nique involv­ing the addi­tion of oxides to glass to create a mesmer­iz­ing marbled effect. The roots of this intri­cate method can be traced back to the legendary Angelo Barovier, consid­ered Mura­no’s greatest glassmaker.

Over time, this enchant­ing tech­nique nearly faded into obscu­rity until it was rekin­dled by artists in the mid-1800s. With the Phoenix series, Visser & Meijwaard pay tribute to this artistry, infus­ing it with a contem­po­rary twist.
