The award-winning Quilt designed by Ellinor Eliasson for Kasthall is a hand-tufted pure wool and linen masterpiece. Eliasson skillfully employs a technique where the carpet’s surface features varying heights of cut and looped textures, converging in patches of vibrant color. Eliasson draws inspiration from the intricate works of design icons Anna Albers and Sheila Hicks, channeling their ability to blend shapes and colors to create new nuances and shades.
Another wellspring of creativity for Quilt comes from Boro Textiles, a Japanese textile family rooted in the 19th century. The synthesis of these diverse influences results in a rug that is visually striking, durable, and elegant. Quilt captures the essence of Eliasson’s design prowess and pays homage to the rich tapestry of artistic traditions that have shaped its unique identity.
Ellinor Eliasson graduated from The Swedish School of Textile University of Borås. By 2015, Eliasson came to Kasthall for an internship and has since then been a part of many successful projects. For instance, she developed the Harvest rug concept, a collection of woven rugs made of residual yarn.
